Madeline Peikes is a New York-born, Brooklyn-based, postpartum private chef, delivering meals to new families in the New York City area.
A lifetime foodie, Madeline was a practicing doula for five years prior to shifting her focus to feeding families. Her dishes are nutrient dense and vegetable centric. Items can be heated, but are also delicious right out of the fridge. They can be mixed and matched to complete meals, or eaten alone as a snack. Above all, the food is designed to be easy and to meet the unique needs of postpartum. "I have two children, and this is the food I wished was in my fridge postpartum: delicious, filling, feel-good food that is packed with colorful vegetables and fresh herbs. It is flavorful, beautiful, and playful." Time deprivation is one of the biggest challenges facing new families. Madeline started Food Doula, to help parents be more present and allow them to focus on their priorities. "Being a postpartum parent can be both amazing and stressful. One of the biggest crunch times is arriving home hungry to a fussy baby, and possibly siblings, who were all ready for dinner ten minutes ago. Having reliable, nourishing meals prepared and in the fridge can be a life-saver. It's a simple thing that can take the daily grind down a notch, and makes for a smoother transition to the evening routine." |
